Hours after announcing she had defected from ODM Party Leader Raila Odinga's ODM party and joined William Ruto's UDA Party, Kajiado East MP Peris Tobiko has parted ways with his elder brother Environment CS Keriako Tobiko.
This was after Peris officially announced her defection on Friday and accompanied DP William Ruto to most of his visits to Narok and Kajiado counties. The ODM MP announced that she will be running for the Kajiado county Gubernatorial seat under the UDA ticket, saying she is very much ready to face off with other bigwigs for the party's ticket in the nominations.
Her defection to Ruto's camp came as a surprise to many including her brother Tobiko, who doesn't see eye to eye with William Ruto. Keriako has been at the forefront attacking William Ruto and campaigning for Raila Odinga.
At one time in 2020, CS Tobiko referred to William Ruto as just a mere clerk of President Uhuru Kenyatta. Tobiko was also among the key Maasai leaders that hosted Raila last month in Kajiado and promised to rally the region behind his candidature.
He also promised to team up with Governor Joseph Ole Lenku to kick UDA out of Kajiado county and supported Lenku's re-election suspectedly on the ODM ticket.
Peris Tobiko’s husband Kishanto Ole Suuji on Friday accused DP William Ruto of visiting their home in Irpolosat Kajiado without being informed of the visit.
