High Court Makes An Interim Ruling On Mobile Banking Charges

Kenyans are looking forward to a better economy as promised by the current 5th of President Dr. William Samoei Arap Ruto during his time in campaigns in the last General elections that took place on the 9th day of August 2022.

Recently the central bank of Kenya led by the Cabinet Secretary for National Treasury and Planning Hon Ndungu gave a directive that all banks should restore transaction charges incurred on mobile banking platforms. This was scrubbed during the time of Corona.

The directive came to the rescue of Kenyans who were struggling with their business after the worldwide outbreak of Corona disease. It also worked as a way of encouraging cashless transactions to limit the spread of the disease.

The High Court of Kenya has however issued an order temporarily barring the reintroduction of charges for mobile money wallets and bank transactions. The mention of the case is set for the 23rd day of January 2023.
