According to him, the media sector plays a critical role in shaping the Country's democracy and should therefore be accorded that freedom of choice. He gave an instance of United States of America where media houses endorse presidential aspirants. For instance, Fox News endorsed and campaigned for Donald Trump in the last Elections. Similarly, CNN is known to campaign for aspirants vying via the Democratic Party ticket.
Kabando revealed that he once brought the discussion although it didn't went far claiming that it is the high time to engage in the conversation. He lauded the Royal Media Services (RMS) for standing with the Odinga's from the beginning. He claimed that the company stood and supported Jaramogi and now Raila Odinga.
The leader further gave an example of People Daily Kenya, a media group he claims was started by the late Matiba purposely for airing and drumming his support. He argued that the media should be given the freedom to endorse a candidate of their choice without any interference.
His remarks comes shortly after the recent uproar from Ruto's camp, protesting against Citizen TV citing biasness in political news reporting in favour of Raila Odinga.
