The deadline for political parties to submit the names of their candidates and their running mates to the independent Election and Boundaries Commissioner IEBC has been extended till today, May 16th.
Since the country's independence, we were here in Kenya to watch history being made today. This comes after Azimio presidential candidate honorable Raila Odinga announced that Martha Karua would be his running mate in the upcoming election. She is the first woman to be considered for nomination to the position, which has previously only been held by men.
Also this evening, William Kabogo, who is running for the top seat in Kiambu county, announced the identity of his running mate. Esther Ndirangu, who served as former Chief Education Cabinet Secretary under Kabogo, was mentioned by the source.

William Kabogo, who is running for the seat through the Tujibee Wakenya Party, will face competition from a number of other candidates, including Moses Kuria Chama cha kazi, Ferdinand Waititu, Senator Kimani Wamatangi, Patrick Wainaina alias Wajungle (Thika), and Stephen Ndichu, the speaker of the Kiambu county assembly.
