Baringo senator Gideon Moi has been in the lime light for sometime over the 2022 succession plan. Hon moi is the son to the late president Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi. During his father's burial Moi was given the mantle to lead the family on its political path. He was handed over the Nyayo symbol that was popularly used by his father as a sign of power. At that time there were allegations that before Mzee Moi died he had instructed president Uhuru to hand over presidency to Gideon Moi. Many believed that this was as a way of president Uhuru thanking Moi for moulding him politically into the person he is today.
Currently the country is experiencing a very tough political battle ground. The heated political temperature needs a person that can fully manage the current political waves. Assessing Gideon Moi on a political view, he currently do not qualify to take over from president Uhuru Kenyatta. Gideon who hails from Baringo has no control over the region. Currently the Baringo senator can not deliver fully votes from his region. During the BBI debate, Gideon Moi's backyard, Baringo county assembly was the first one to reject the BBI bill. This clearly can tell that indeed Moi cant deliver votes required in any alliance he can join.
This then means that it will not be easy for president Uhuru hand over the mantle to Gideon. This is because of his infamous character. Then considering that deputy president William Ruto may not step down, it will be hard for a contest between Gideon and Ruto.
