Deputy President William Ruto held a rally in pipeline, Jacaranda grounds on Sunday. Thousands of youth turned up in large numbers to warmly welcome the second in command. Just like any other rally held by the Deputy President, business was brought to a standstill at Jacaranda grounds as his supporters came to listen to him.
The rally continued smoothly as Ruto addressed the crowd not until he responded to Raila's assertion that he will jail corrupt leaders. A section of rowdy youth resolved to violence throwing stones at the rally causing havoc and confusion. This forced the police to intervene by firing teargas to disperse the group that had planned to disrupt the rally.
However, order was restored and the rally continued peacefully. The angered Deputy President Ruto condemned the chaos caused by a section of rowdy youths. He went further to accuse Raila Odinga of instigating violence. Nonetheless, Ruto responded to the former premiere's sentiments that he will not succumb to threats and intimidation.
This comes barely after Raila Odinga promised Thika residents that he will jail all corrupt leaders once he ascends to power. This occurred during the Azimio la Umoja really in Thika town on Saturday.
