After meeting ODM leader Raila Odinga early this week at Safari Park Hotel, Mount Kenya Foundation- a group of influential tycoons from Mt Kenya region are scheduled to meet OKA chiefs on Friday to discuss the 2022 presidential election.
According to verified reports, MKF has been tasked by President Uhuru Kenyatta to whip OKA chiefs into backing a Raila Odinga candidature.
"We are going there to present our agenda. There is nothing like backing Raila. The Mt Kenya caucus wants each and every candidate to present their ideas so they see which idea to buy. They're focusing on the economy," said Ayub Savula (ANC deputy party leader)
Makueni Mp Dan Maanzo, a close confidant of Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka also maintained Wiper party will not back Raila, insisting the former premier must retreat and support a different candidate.
"We (Wiper party) have told Raila we will not support him. If Raila is not supporting Kalonzo, then our votes as Kamba will go elsewhere,” he said.
“I don’t want to anticipate the debate, but Mt Kenya wants their businesses together, that is why they want the whole of Nasa intact."
