The east Africa legislative assembly representative kanini kega paid a courtesy call on the Nyeri governor Mutahi kahiga on Friday, whereby the two leaders held talks as they Started rallying mount Kenya leaders behind deputy president Rigathi Gachagwa.
They announced plans to hold a series of meetings with leaders allied to azimio la umoja one Kenya alliance coalition and Kenya kwanza alliance towards supporting Gachagwa as the region's topmost politician and Kingpin.
Kanini kega who is the director of Elections in president Uhuru Kenyatta's Jubilee alliance party announced that he will forster the region's unity behind the DP.
“The senior most politician that we have at the moment in Mt Kenya is none other than DP Rigathi Gachagua and we will all be anchored under that umbrella. But people have been misconstruing that we are leaving our political parties to join another political formation,” Mr Kega said.
The move by kega comes at a time when there are talks of a possible jubilee party moving out of Azimio to work together with Ruto's KKA.
However, the former Kieni MP didn't confirm nor deny reports of jubilee planing to work with the ruling Alliance.
Nevertheless, Raila should be worried by Kanini Kega's moves that are likely to neutralize azimio's influence in mount Kenya region.
As Mr kega was Meeting governor Kahiga, azimio governors were meeting their party leaders Raila Odinga, Martha and Kalonzo Musyoka at Naivasha.
At the meeting, they laid out strategies on how to push back president William Ruto's Subtle moves that according to them are taking Kenya back to dark Nyayo era days.
Raila Odinga is struggling to keep his loyalties united in opposition amid elaborate subtle schemes by president William Ruto to woo as many as possible away from him.
