David is the vice chairman of the ruling coalition party, the Jubilee party, and a prominent figure in the Azimio council. After the handshake, he became an ally of Raila Odinga, and he criticized William Ruto, the country's deputy president.
Since the elections, David has not made an appearance in public. He was present at the governor's thanksgiving ceremony held at Kilifi County's Mung'aro.
During the event, David praised Raila for his efforts in fighting for the democracy in Kenya. He noted that there were signs of the past, which he referred to as the "Naya era." He also said that the current developments were similar to those that occurred during his 85-day detention.
He noted that the Azimio MPs should not go to the country's parliament to join the government if they intend to be dictators. Instead, they should stay steadfast in their coalition. In his speech, he said that they should not go to the country's parliament to kneel down.
