Musalia Mudavadi, the chief cabinet secretary, has encouraged CS Moses Kuria to focus on his duties in relation to the country's importation of maize. Mudavadi contends that the Ministry of Agriculture, not the Ministry of Trade, should decide whether or not to import corn.

Mudavadi has made it plain that Mithika Linturi, the country's CS for Agriculture, is the one who is aware of the scope of the food deficit. He makes it abundantly clear that Moses Kuria must stay on message because some of his statements embarrass the administration.
The Prime Cabinet Secretary requests that the Minister of Trade focus on his duties and understand what trade entails. He is clear that the concerns surrounding the importation of maize are not related to trade but rather to the nation's food security and, more specifically, the hardship of local farmers.
Before making rash statements, Mudavadi had urged CS Kuria to sit down and consider what his Ministry entails. According to Musalia, it is obvious that those who are aware of the severity of the food shortage in the Agriculture docket are in the best position to address the problems with maize.
