Young Minds Capture Govt Attention After Creating a Ventilator Amid COVID-19 Scourge

The novel coronavirus has left many scientists and innovators finding remedies to the challenges brought out by the pandemic in the world. In Kenya, four young innovators of ventilators caught the attention of the top government official after their prototype ventilators arrived at the right time when the country needs it the most.

Dr. Jospeh Munyiri, Paul Kariuki, Peter Kabue Ndegwa, Samuel Kairu are the innovators the government is interested in amid the battle against the deadly coronavirus pandemic in the country that has so far claimed the lives of 6. The four are alleged to have assembled the ventilator from locally available materials.

Early this week, Betty Main, Cabinet Secretary Industrialization assured the four great minds to facilitate them in producing prototype ventilators that will meet the international health standards.

The Government opened arms to the fours saying their effort are going to play a central role in curbing the death rate in the near future.

Maina said the four innovators will work under the Kenyan Industrial Research and Development Institute (KIRDI) to produce a standard prototype.

KIRDI is a national research agency that was established in 1975 which was meant to undertake research and development in industrial technology. The four are going to be guided for furthet production of ventilators in the country 

Peter Kamau while talking with K24 said that they were moved by the suffering of Kenyans amid the novel coronavirus. He said, they decided to pool their resources together to make the ventilator after seeing the Kenyans suffering from COVID-19.

Kenyans have been moved with steps taken in the fight against the virus by the four genius mind.
