Today in the morning, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, DCI has come out to send a warning to the people of Kenya concerning the issue of fake accounts which have been used to impersonate president William Ruto, his wife Mama Rachel Ruto, his Bodyguard Colonel Fabian Lengusuranga and even the Chief justice of Kenya, hon Martha Koome.
Through their official facebook page, DCI told the people of Kenya to take care of such fake accounts. According to DCI, some crooks have been opening fake accounts bearing the name of president William Ruto and Mama Rachel Ruto. DCI said that those crooks have been using these fake accounts to con the people of Kenya telling them that they are giving out loans at a low interest. They then demand for a small deposit and dissapear with the money.
On a good note, DCI said that they have already managed to arrest some suspects who have been Impersonating the above prominent leaders. Among the arrested individuals are; Michael Wekesa from Sirisia, Isaac Oduor and Dennis Kimaru.
"The Directorate of Criminal Investigations is cautioning members of the public to be wary of fraudsters operating pseudo social media accounts impersonating members of the first family, the deputy president, chief justice and other senior government officials. The crooks who have opened multiple Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts have obtained hundreds of thousands of shillings from unsuspecting Kenyans, who are duped into believing that the owners of the accounts will assist them secure financial assistance, jobs, among other favours." Said DCI Kenya.
