MP Didmus Barasa Allegedly Shoots And Kills His Opponent's Aide

Didmus Barasa, a member of parliament for Kimilili, is wanted by Bungoma County police for reportedly killing the aide to Brian Khaemba, his opponent.

On a Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) ticket, Mr. Khaemba was running against Barasa for the Kimilili MP seat. It is reported that at around 6 o'clock in the evening, he went to the Chebukwabi polling place to see the votes being counted.

However, he ran across the incumbent lawmaker at the voting location and opted to depart shortly after arriving.

According to a police record reviewed by Citizen Digital, Mr. Khaemba turned towards his car, but "Didmus Barasa followed him in company of four guys and told them not to let him (Mr. Brian Khaemba) to go."

Joshua Nasokho, the prospective MP's driver, is alleged to have disobeyed Barasa's command and started the car on fire.

According to the police complaint, Didmus Barasa pulled out a gun and shot Mr. Khaemba's assistant Brian Olunga in the forehead, causing him to bleed profusely.
