Since 1992,when the section 2A was repealed allowing for the multiparty democracy. The region has been having their own presidential candidate for the fith time in a row.

The 2022 elections has caught the residents of the mountain unware with no serious contender. They are forced to rally behind Raila or Ruto for their interest.

Nakuru governor Lee Kinyanjui who is also a close ally of Uhuru has however delivered a warning message to presidential candidates who are investing too much in the mountain.

" All we ask is caution while pursuing this block. Don't invest too much because you are likely to regret. From the last five elections since multipartysm, the region had voted with head not heart,"said Kinyanjui.
