Strange Coincidence As Gachoka Endorses Raila Hours After Wanjigi Declares Interest In Presidency

Media personality and activist Tony Gachoka has raised temperatures on the internet by endorsing Raila Odinga for the presidential race.

Gachoka and Odinga have a history and there should have been nothing untoward in his support for the ODM scion.

However Kenyan politics being full of intrigue and backhand machinations it would be interesting to take a closer look at what could be at the bottom of this endorsement. Gachoka is no pedestrian citizen but a son to the late billionaire businessman Muiruri Gachoka.

He has led a very eventful life and rarely shies away from controversy. On and off the Point Blank program that used to run on KTN television TG as he's popularly known gives a hard tackle. He has a habit of exposing the dirt he knows about his adversaries in public. He had a run-in with Jubilee Party vice-chairman David Murathe and another with Nairobi lawyer Ahmednassir Abdullahi and in both instances, these gentlemen had to back down.

“The less said about Tony the better, everybody knows the history of Tony Gachoka. Tony Gachoka’s family and my family were both in the wines and spirits business, Tony Gachoka ran down the family business… when the young William and their siblings were studying in Europe in London. It is this same William who is trying to bring back together with the family estate,” Murathe took a swipe at Gachoka during their spat.

But Gachoka could take that and more and still bounce back. From the list of his guests on Point Blank, one could tell that Gachoka has connections in the right places.

Jimi Wanjigi has indicated that he could be running for president.

Now a day after billionaire Jimi Wanjigi declares his interest in the presidency Gachoka comes out of the woodwork with his support for Raila.

Coincidence or no coincidence the following days are bound to open a spree of leaders from the Mount Kenya region making their endorsements of preferred candidates. Only time will tell whether this endorsement has any significance.
