"Ninajali Mazingira," Raila Cautions Sugoi People Against Cutting Trees Over Atwoli Remark

Former Prime Minister and Azimio la Umoja flag bearer Raila Odinga has cautioned residents of Deputy President William Ruto's backyard against bringing down trees ahead of August polls.

Taking to social media after a successful campaign run in South Rift, Trans Mara and Kilgoris areas, Raila said he cares about the environment and at no point should residents fell trees.

"Ambieni wale majamaa mambo bado, wengine wanawaambia wakate miti, mimi ninajali uhifadhi wa mazingira!! {Tell those guys that this is the beginning, some are telling them to cut trees, for me I care about the preservation of the environment," Raila posted Saturday night.

This comes months after Central organizations of Trade Unions (COTU) boss Francis Atwoli asked Uasingishu residents to uproot all trees so that DP Ruto will not hang himself when he is defeated in the polls.

"I want to tell those close to Ruto to cut all trees around his home so that he does not commit suicide after the August 9 general elections," he said in an event attended by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Atwoli was blasted for joking about committing suicide while President Kenyatta was reprimanded for tolerating the COTU boss in his event.
