Democratic Action party Patron an the immediate former Defence Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa, has maintained that he will challenge president William Ruto in 2027 declaring that it is official and he will not change his mind about it.

Wamalwa claimed that in 2013 when former president the late Mwai Kibaki was about to retire, he was endorsed alongside former president Uhuru Kenyatta and president William Ruto.
According to him, The three of them were awarded a spear each by the then Ford Kenya leader Musikari Nazi Kombo to seek out the country's top leadership upon the retirement of former president the late Mwai Kibaki.
Wamalwa further stated that there is no doubt that Western Province where the Mulembe nation is can produce a president adding that they are the second largest community in Kenya. He noted that it is time for his community to get United behind his presidential bid.
Wamalwa's remarks follow the earlier one during the anniversary of his party where he was announced as the party's 2027 presidential flag bearer.
