Ruto Reacts After What Crowd Did After He Mentioned his Running Mate in Kiambu Meeting (Video)

Deputy President William Ruto was forced to pause his speech for a while as overwhelmed crowd went wild after he mentioned his Running Mate Rigathi Gachagua during the Kiambu County Economic Forum held in Limuru, Kiambu County today.

Ruto was about to finish his opening remarks at the Limuru event when he decided to introduce some of the Kenya Kwanza leaders who had accompanied him to the meeting. The room was however filled with excitement when he mentioned Gachagua, as the crowd present at the event gave Gachagua a standing ovation as he waved to the crowd.

"Hapa tuko na Rigathi Gachagua (We have Rigathi Gachagua here)," Ruto said before his speech was temporarily interrupted by the overwhelmed crowd. At the time of celebration, the sounds of vuvuzelas could also be heard from the excited crowd.

But, Ruto quickly reacted to the crowd's reactions, informing the overwhelmed group that was blowing the vuvuzelas that the meeting was purely an economic forum and he would not allow them in such event.

"Haya, wewe (OK, you)," Ruto pointed out at one of the supporters blowing the vuvuzela.

"Mambo ya tarumbeta hakuna hapa leo..Vuvuzela tunakuanga nayo kwa rally, hapa leo tunaongea mambo ya uchumi na hatutaki tarumbeta(The issue of Vuvuzela won't be here today..Vuvuzela should be at the rallies, today we only want to speak about the economy here and we don't want the Vuvuzelas)," Ruto said as calmness was restored.

He went ahead to criticise their opponents from Azimio over their choice of a running mate as he commended Gachagua for work well done since he was named the Running Mate.

Ruto said that their opponent's priority is to ensure they Running Mate changes the constitution unlike them who have tasked Gachagua with improving the economy.

"Nataka kumshukuru huyu Gachagua kwa sababu hiyo majukumu nilimpatia, he has hit the ground running," Ruto said.
