Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission has gazetted guidlines for the upcoming August general elections.The new directives are centered around the commission's Electoral code of conduct whose aim is to promote a conducive environment for free and fair elections, in an order refraining politicians from actions that may spark divisions in the country.Political aspirants were also implored to avoid making remarks that border hate speech, language or any action that may lead violence or intimidation.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission chairman mister Wafula Chebukati further barred politicians from campaigning in places of worship and burial ceremonies.He also instructed political parties to have unique identities and refrain from plagiarising colours, symbols as well as acronyms of other parties.They were further discouraged from removing or destroying any campaign by their rivals.Mister Chebukati stressed that those who will go against the rules and guidelines will be automatically disqualified from appearing in the ballot.He also assured Kenyans of free and fair elections coming 9th August.
