Police had to fire tear gas at Azimio supporters on Monday.
The supporters joined coalition MPs as they marched to the IEBC headquarters to petition the Electoral Commission to ban Deputy CEO Ruth Kulundu.
Azimio La Umoja One Kenyan lawmakers had staged a peaceful march to the offices of the Independent Elections and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to protest the banning of Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ruth Kulundu over allegations of gross misconduct and disobedience.
Lawmakers claimed that Kulundu was banned from whistleblowing in the August 9 election.
They further stated that their ban was a witch hunt choreographed by Chairman Wafula Chebukati's wing on the commission for supporting the four dissenting IEBC commissioners.
IEBC CEO Marjan Hussein Marjan accused Kulundu of wrongdoing for arranging an illegal plenary session of the commission without authorization.
At the meeting, the four commissioners who were contesting the results of the 2022 presidential election selected law firms that would represent the commission in the consolidated petition for the presidential election.
