"Uhuru Ataenda Nyumbani 2022," Kieleweke MP Says

Many allegations have been made especially by President Uhuru's close confidants, that Uhuru's term might be extended.

COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli recently said that if BBI will not pass by August next year, the general elections might be extended until BBI passes.

But now Kieleweke member Kanini Kega, who represents the Kieni constituency, has cleared the air on claims Uhuru's term might be extended.

Talking today to Intro Tv, when Kega was asked if President Uhuru's term might be extended, Kega confidently said that the constitution says it well that, elections are held after every five years and provide reasons why it should not be done, but BBI is not one of them.

He added that BBI will not affect elections and that President Uhuru Kenyatta will eventually retire after his term as the Head of State ends in 2022.

"The constitution states it well elections are held after every five years unless it the time of wars or other reasons stated by the constitution. And yes, Uhuru will retire in 2022," Kanini said.
