President William Ruto and former President Uhuru Kenyatta are expected to attend a conference to deliberate on peace in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo dubbed as Nairobi Talks.
Former president Uhuru Kenyatta is the East African Community and the Horn of African mediator, a post he was given by president William Ruto immediately after his swearing in. Uhuru will be presiding over the meeting as the facilitator. Burundian President Evariste Nyayishimiye will also attend the meeting, he is the chairperson of the EAC summit.
Also expected to attend is the EAC secretary general Peter Mathuki. The meeting comes days after former president Uhuru Kenyatta visited Goma in DRC Congo where he got to listen to the residents to understand what the go through. The meeting comes even as M23 has defied calls for Ceasefire.
This will be the first time president William Ruto and Uhuru Kenyatta will be seen together since the swearing-in of President Ruto.
