Council of Governors Chair Anne Waiguru has said that all the 47 county heads have agreed to work with President William Ruto and his government.
This is with consideration that the governors are mainly from two warring sides, Ruto's Kenya Kwanza side and the Azimio La Umoja camp led by Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) chief Raila Odinga.
But Waiguru has said that even the opposition governors have pledged readiness to support Ruto, a revelation she made before the Head of State on Saturday.
She promised to ensure that the entire team takes part in helping Ruto achieve the goals he has for the country and realize his dreams for Kenyans.
“On behalf of the council Mr President, I want to assure you of our full support to your government to achieve and deliver as one going forward," she is quoted by The Standard as having said during Ruto's retreat with his Cabinet and Principal Secretaries at the Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club in Nanyuki.
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua welcomed opposition leaders to work with the Kenya Kwanza administration, saying that their input is needed.
Speaking at the same event, the Second in Command stated that the government wants to work with everybody for the sake of service delivery to Kenyans.
"Party affiliations brought about by ideological differences will not hinder us from seeking to partner with all elected leaders to find solutions to challenges currently facing Kenyans. Together and through positive partnerships, we will take Kenya to greater heights," he said.
Waiguru's announcement comes as another win for Ruto, who has been receiving defectors from the Azimio side, after Raila's loss in August 2022 race.
But Raila, while addressing his allies in Mombasa yesterday, claimed that the governors working with Ruto have his permission.
