Unbowed Governor Rasanga Responds to Orengo Who Urged Him to Abandon His Political & Support Raila

Siaya Governor Cornell Rasanga while ago elicited mixed reactions from a number of leaders from his county after announcing that he will be contesting for the Alego Usonga parliamentary seat in the coming general elections.

The County Senator James Orengo has called upon Rasanga to shelve his 2022 bid and embark in popularizing their party leader Raila Odinga's presidential ambitions ahead of 2022.

Rasanga who has been meeting different elders and other leaders from his county told Orengo that if Raila's inner circle wanted him to support his bid for the top seat, then being in parliament was the best platform.

"If they want me at the national arena, then Alego–Usonga people will take me there. I am not retiring from politics any time soon," said Rasanga as quoted by the People's Daily.

Orengo who is eyeing Rasanga's post has endorsed the current Alego Usonga MP for re-election, who has in turn pledged to popularize his gubernatorial race.

Orengo is expected to face off Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi, who has support of the governor.
