Busia Governor's Race: A Three-Horse Race, Others Are Escorters, Who is Better Among The Three?

Busia County is one of the counties that are located in the western part of the country and the county is dominated by the Luhya and Iteso communities. In terms of politics, Busia County is the stronghold of the former Prime Minister and ODM party leader Raila Amolo Odinga.

As we approach the eargerly awaited August general elections, the race to succeed the outgoing Busia County governor Sospeter Ojaamong who is serving his last constitutional term in office has been taking the new shape. The race has attracted the likes of the former Funyula MP Paul Otuoma of ODM party, Lucas Meso of Jubilee party, Dan Mogoria of DAP-Kenya party and John Bunyasi of ANC party.

The race is likely going to be tough among the former Funyula MP Paul Otuoma,Lucas Meso and John Bunyasi. The above-mentioned candidates have been moving around the county to popularize their different gubernatorial bids to the voters in the county and they are capable of convincing more voters to vote for them.

From the current political engagements and activities in Busia County, the former Funyula MP Paul Otuoma is likely going to win the race because of the influence of ODM party and political experience. Paul Otuoma is not new in the politics of Busia County because he once vied for the same seat in 2017 but lost closely to Sospeter Ojaamong.

In addition to that, Otuoma is likely going to enjoy the support of Iteso community because of his running mate Arthur Odero who is very influential leader among the Iteso community.
