President Uhuru Kenyatta has jetted out of the country and arrived safely at the National Heroes Stadium In Lusaka Zambia where he has joined other delegates in the inauguration ceremony of the Zambian president elect Hakainde Hichilema. Hichilema was declared president by the Zambian elections authority after defeating incumbent president Edgar Lungu in a tight race on his 6th attempt.
President Uhuru has joined other leaders including former prime minister Raila Odinga who landed in Lusaka yesterday for the same function. Among the Kenyan delegation was the Infrastructure cabinet secretary James Macharia.
President Kenyatta being the Chairperson of the East African Community Heads of State Summit has arrived to represent East Africa in congratulating Mr Hichilema.
Zambia has been praised for conducting peaceful elections and handing over of power from incumbent president Edgar Lungu to president elect Hakainde Hichilema. Hichilema has however a difficult task ahead of reviving the Zambian economy.
The National Heroes Stadium has been filed to the capacity as anxious Zambian citizens wait to welcome the new leadership.
