Chief Justice Martha Koome has stood her ground on the recent appointnents of judges. While presiding the swearing of Daniel Musinga as the President of the court of appeal, the President of the Chief Justice Martha Koome has asserted her position as the president of the judiciary as she sends President Uhuru Kenyatta a warning shot over his refusal to appoint six judges. In a message share by Citizen TV on Twitter, Martha Koome is determined to reclaim what is lost and is not ready to be bullied by anyone. There has been a tug of war between the judiciary and the executive after President Uhuru Kenyatta refused to appoint six judges on the ground of having intelligence reports against the six.
"As we welcome our seven new justices at the court of appeal, this is a bitter sweet moment for the four of colleagues not with us. I reiterate my position as the CJ and the Chair of the JSC to state all person recommended by the JSC must be appointed as judges," insisted Chief Justice Martha Koome.
