Speaking from 'Sun N Sand' Beach Resort at Kikambala, Kilifi County in an economic forum attended by a number of Coast Leaders allied to Deputy President William Ruto and the DP himself today on the Saturday of May 22nd, the Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa passionately spoke on why the people from Coast believe in him and what he must do to enjoy their continual support.
Hon. Jumwa who was the convener of that forum started by saying that the idea of having that forum started about four weeks ago after having listened to what the DP has been preaching about the new conversation in the country and seeing that his proposals stand to uplift ordinary citizens.
"Economic development in any country is brought by excellent leadership and that's why we as leaders of the Coast region agreed that when DP Ruto will be writing his manifesto, then the issues of our people and their economy must be in that manifesto," she said.
In defending their choice to follow the DP as opposed to any other leader, Hon Jumwa said that they found him to be the only leader who is ready and prepared to put that new conversation into practice and they trusted him with their people.
However, the MP said that the DP will have to follow their terms since their support to him will be a debt whose terms of renewal will be based on his fulfilment of the terms set out in the first debt, that's the issues they need him to address once he gets into power for the benefit of the Coast people.
"We as the people of the Coast region have an agreement that once you take what's ours, we will follow up on you and see how you are implementing our contract with you because what we are giving you is like a debt. Just like a bank, you get your first loan based on the bank's terms and conditions but after repaying, you'll get the second and subsequent loans without issues because the bank will already have known your history," she said.
In what was like stressing that point, Jumwa told the DP that "naibu wa rais sisi tutakukopesha kura zetu. Kwa malipo yako tutaangalia kama wewe ni mlipaji mzuri kwa masharti haya ya mkataba. Kama yatatekelezwa, there will be no need for you to again say that you'll be issuing another security to get our support. Ukimaliza kulipa unapewa tu."
