MP Gakuya Speaks on Kenya Kwanza Leaders' Persistent Attack on Uhuru

A month after taking office as the fifth government President William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua found themselves in hot water after placing the responsibility on the outgoing President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The two have been asking Kenyans to allow them time to settle down and streamline things in their speech alleging that they inherited a nation with a crumbling economy and empty coffers.

When Raila Odinga complained about the high cost of living Gachagua at one point brought up the former prime minister with the DP claiming that Raila is equally to blame because he failed to supervise Uhuru's administration.

James Gakuya, a member of parliament from Embakasi North, said on TV 47 that the two leaders should inform Kenyans of the situation they found the nation in because failing to do so has been seen as criticizing the Jubilee administration.

"You shouldn't stop someone from speaking out what is on their hearts because everyone needs time to heal. The truth is that we are giving Kenyans what they want to hear, which is that a quick drop in the cost of living and other factors can only occur through a miracle, which is unimaginable. The president and vice president have been pleading with Kenyans to allow them more time because of this."
