Pokot South Member of Parliament Hon. David Pkosing now says they are set to collect signatures that will be used to impeach Trade Cabinet Secretary Hon. Moses Kuria tomorrow amid the current feud on the GMO maize that arrived into the country on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 morning.
The legislator, while speaking to KTN TV echoed the sentiments of the Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei that, the CS, allegedly ordered the importation of GMO Maize which has been under criticism from both the Kenya Kwanza government allies and from the opposition.
The Lawmaker, dismissed the current move adding that, the Trade CS didn’t get the okay of instructing the importation of Maize, adding that, the Parliament for long has been a house that okays what is good for Kenyans and reject what is not good for them.
On the arrival of maize into the Country, a section of Members of Parliament, have tabled a motion to object the importation of maize this afternoon, adding that, a section of region across the country, that is Western Region, Trans Nzoia and Uasin Gishu counties are current harvesting.
Hon. Pkosing, noted that CS Kuria, is running sensitive issues without involving the necessary parties, adding that, they will not be silent as they watch Kenyan farmers and other food producers nailed down by the same government that promised to protect them.
The legislator, in conjunction with other MPs today at the Parliament, okayed the move to have CS Kuria appear before the panel and made answerable on the move he took to decide single handedly matters concerning Kenyans.
A couple of days ago, Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Leader Raila Odinga spoke to Citizen TV expressing his anger in the Kenya Kwanza government and President William Ruto whom, he alleged he is being used by the Europeans to bring in GMO maize which has health hazards to Kenyans.
Raila, called upon Kenyans to resist the consumption of the GMO product, a move that Parliament take to the limelight to dismiss future imporation of food and instead promoting the local production.
