The Member of Parliament for Pokot South, Hon. David Pkosing now claims that the Kenyans Universities are soon going to shut down following the move by the government to stop her funding.
On Wednesday, November 23, 2022 while speaking at the Parliament, Hon. Pkosing, demanded answers on why the public Kenyans universities have been denied funding, adding that, the cabinet secretary for Fiancé and Education, should be summoned at the floor of the house and questioned.
The legislator noted that a couple of years ago, there was no problem funding the public universities by government, hinting out that, the Kenya Kwanza government should come out and tell all the stakeholder and students why they have opted for withdrawal as the option.
He noted that, matters concerning education should not be politicized by any individual, adding that, should Universities break down and close, the future of the young generation will have been tempered with and the society will struggle to maintain illiterate individuals.
“I am going to make a suggestion Madam Speaker for the committee to look into it. Maybe Madam Speaker, we need to take this issue primarily and very important and stage, a Kamukunji (one on one interaction). Why don’t we bring on the floor of the house, the Minister and all the people concerned? Bring the Minister for finance and Minister for Education, let them come to the house,” said the legislator.
He stated that sooner or later, if the issues at hand are not looked into, the country will plunge into a laughing stock on allegations that the government failed to fund learning institutions.
“Madam Speaker, we must help this area madam speaker or else, we will be lamenting very. Very soon all public universities will close and Kenya will be a laughing stock madam Speaker. So I want to suggest that I am not sure while raising such statements,” he added.
