Since the year began, there has been many different events going on around. Of great concern is the number of individuals who have always played key role in the world whom we lost this year.
The most influential individual lost was queen Elizabeth who died at the age of 96. She has been the UK head of state since 1952 following the death of her father King George VI. She has been the most well known monarch who managed to visit so many countries during her reign.
She really played role in ensuring maintenance of the monarch especially during it's turbulent times in 1992 since London Queen Elizabeth II once referred to 1992 as an “annus horribilis,” a Latin phrase meaning horrible year. “1992 is not a year on which I shall look back with undiluted pleasure,” she said during a speech marking the 40th anniversary of her succession in the UK since this was a year that three royal marriages collapsed, a fire destroyed more than a hundred rooms in Windsor Castle
The royal family experienced a different horrible in 2019 where the year began with Prince Philip, hitting his Land Rover and colliding with another vehicle near the royal Sandringham estate. The prince, who was 97 at the time, was unharmed after the incident but the other driver had cuts on her knees and an adult passenger broke her wrist. The collision brought debate in Britain, with many asking: Should anyone still be driving at 97? And this prompted the prince of Wales to apologize and later surrender his license.
It was in this year also that Prince Harry and princess Meghann had begun to face up wrangles and criticism from the UK natives and also from the royal family following his difference with prince William who is now heir to the throne.
In Kenya, the third president died following long battle with illness after handing over power to the 4th president of Kenya, president Uhuru Kenyatta. He came into power in the year 2002 following his victory over the then KANU presidential flag bearer Uhuru Kenyatta. The former head of state was hailed based on the various achievements he made while in power. It was during his reign that the bodabodas came into existence in Kenya. The bodabodas are a mean of livelihood for many in Kenya as by now since Most of the youths are more engaged in it's operations. Also, the economic growth in the nation was remarkable. This may have been attributed by his profession in economics following his studies at Makerere University in Uganda.
During the campaign period in 2002,he survived by a whisker following a road accident in Nyeri that almost claimed his life. The then NARC members led his campaigns i.e Rails odinga.He died at the age of 80 years on April 2022 and was buried at his home at Nyeri county, Othaya constituency.
