Kenyans Now Told Why ODM Won’t Form Any Coalition With Nyanza Parties Ahead Of 2022 Election

In Nyanza, the ODM has ruled out the possibility of forming a coalition with other parties.

The move paves the way for a resurgence of ODM's push for the'six-piece' voting pattern, which it used to ensure its dominance in previous polls.

The party wants to keep outfits out of its stronghold in Nyanza, but it also wants to form alliances in other parts of the country, where it is in talks with other parties.

Opiyo Wandayi, the ODM's Director of Political Affairs, stated that the party would not form a coalition with small parties in the region. The Orange Party, on the other hand, wants those outfits to join it.

Aspirants were free to join the ODM and compete for the party's ticket, according to Wandayi, which would help strengthen Raila Odinga's grassroots support as he seeks the presidency.

However, in other parts of the country, the Orange Party has taken a different approach, prioritizing coalitions with other parties in order to help Raila win the presidency.
