Kenya Kwanza led by Deputy President William Ruto spent better part of their day in Ukambani. This was in Machakos County where DP Ruto was hosted by Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua. This rally can be termed as successful based on the huge crowd which turned up to hear the bottom up economic model by DP Ruto

However, there is one leader who absence in this rally was loudly heard. This is UDA Chairman Johnson Muthama who is amongst the founders of UDA and will be contesting for Machakos Gubernatorial seat. This is in line with the cold war between Governor Mutua and Muthama thus his absence.

In retaliation, Muthama held a separate rally in other parts of Machakos where he also received warm reception. He was accompanied by his running mate Faith Muli where they campaigned for their gubernatorial bid to area residents of Ngalalya, Kwale, Kikuyuni, Kyeleni and Syumbuni villages
