DP Ruto Today's Mega Rally In South Rift

Deputy President William Ruto is expected to attend a mega rally in Kapkatet, Bureti Kericho county, on Sunday (today).

All plans have been finalized, and the DP is expected to arrive in Bomet at any time now. Before going to the polls, Ruto will be coronated and officially receive the blessings of Kalenjin Elders at the rally.

The Kapkatet ground has served as a symbol for previous political declarations throughout the Rift Valley region, and it is here that elders bless the person chosen to lead the region and the community.

President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga were among the leaders blessed at Kapakatet in 2007 and 2013, respectively.

Ruto will also make use of the occasion to encourage his supporters in the South Rift to cast their ballots for him in August. It is anticipated that, unlike previous political rallies in Bomet, the rally won't be met with a vicious supremacy battle between Isaac Ruto's CCM and his UDA party allies.

The fact that Bomet and Kericho have 805,052 votes is important for Ruto, who is eager to unite the region behind him.
