Just in: Media Kicked Out of Bomas Auditorium As IEBC Calls For Urgent Meeting With Chief Agents

Following an altercation at the National Tallying Centre, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) enforced stringent regulations.

On Friday, August 12, there was a standoff at the Bomas of Kenya after Azimio agents reported an unusual electronic gadget at the NTC.

Azimio and presidential representatives from the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party battled after the suspicious device was allegedly smuggled into the room by unknown individuals.

Journalists were expelled from the auditorium while IEBC officials, lead by Prof. Abdi Guliye, had an emergency meeting with the main agents.

Guliye also dispatched security personnel to contain the situation and issued a warning to politicians that such behavior would not be tolerated.

He also instructed lawmakers who had gathered at the National Tallying Centre to leave if they had no business at Bomas, blaming them for the fracas.

Journalists were also prohibited from photographing IEBC officials, with Guliye adding that doing so would put them in danger.
