Orange Democratic Movement party leader Hon Raila Amolo Odinga together with his Azimio la Umoja troops toured Vihiga county on Wednesday. The Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate is on a six days tour to the Western Kenya region in a bid to solidify his votes from the Kenya Kwanza coalition which has begun making inroads in the region.
While meeting Western Kenya leaders in Vihiga, ODM troops led by Suna East Constituency Member of Parliament Hon Junet Mohammed slammed Deputy President Dr. William Samoei Ruto for owning 2500 acres of land in Taita Taveta county.
The vocal lawmaker said that it was absurd for DP Ruto to own such a large track of land while some Kenyans especially in Taita Taveta are suffering due to lack of land.
Junet Mohammed urged DP Ruto to lead by example of his bottom-up economic model and distribute the piece of land to poor people in the region. Junet further slammed DP Ruto saying that he is the one to be blamed for bringing the living conditions of Kenyans down.
"I have been amazed that some people want to help the poor, have you read today's newspaper? Someone has 2500 acres of land in Taita Taveta, can he help the poor?. If you want to help people start by distributing that land first" Junet said.
During his tour to Taita Taveta county on Tuesday, DP Ruto revealed that he was given the 2500 acres of land by Criticos. His revelations caused mixed reactions from different quaters.
