Huge Boost To Raila As Top Mt Kenya Governor Joins His Camp

Meru governor Kiraitu Murungi, who was rumored to be switching ship to UDA when ministry of agriculture cabinet secretary Peter Munya withdrew his intentions, has officially joined Azimio la Umoja after days of left Kenyans guessing about his next move.

The first-term governor, who looks to have had no difficulty retaining his seat, has stated that his Devolution Empowerment Party will only back Raila's bid for 2022.

Murungi claims that the outcomes of their research, as well as confidential information, influenced his choice to join Azimio.

Raila will undoubtedly win in 2022, according to the powerful governor of Mount Kenya East. Since Murungi was strongly urged to join the UDA, this affirmative response has infuriated UDA supported lawmakers.

Given that cabinet secretary Peter Munya is also in Azimio and has been touted as a potential deputy of Raila Odinga in the next polls, Kiraitu's arrival has enhanced Raila's prospects in Mount Kenya East threefold.

Kiraitu will now face current Meru senator Mithika Linturi of the UDA party in a rematch for his second term.

Governor Kiraitu commended Munya on his choice after he failed to resign by February 8th, and stated that the work of defending his seat had now become much easier, given that the CS had decided to withdraw from the campaign.
