From Failed BBI To Azimio La Umoja, Raila Emerges Strongest Contender For State House

Veteran politician and Orange Democratic Movement Party leader Raila Amollo Odinga have re-emerged from the failed BBI process to be the front-runner in the presidential race.

With a stroke of genius, Raila has turned the focus of the nation from a failed Constitutional Amendment project to the Azimio la Umoja movement.

Raila's strategy of keeping people guessing about his candidacy is now paying off. His onslaught in territories of Northeastern and Central Kenya where traditionally he's met voter apathy has yielded monumental benefits with the residents of Garissa crowning him an elder of the tribe. These are gains that would be unheard of in the past.

The Mount Kenya Political Formation also stopped short of a public declaration but has, in essence, endorsed him.

This comes at a time when Deputy President Dr. William Samoei Ruto has been traversing the central Kenya region for the last three years in the hope of earning the region's endorsement.

Ruto has done the church circuit for three years in Mount Kenya more than anywhere else in the country.Ruto has spent incredibly large sums of money on Harambees, specifically for the church-related activity.

In the latest meeting held by One Kenya Alliance presidential-hopefuls, each speaker drummed up support for himself. All indicated a willingness to work with Raila, " long as he comes as a partner and not the first among equals", said Ford-Kenya leader Moses Wetangula.

With ease and unique political insights the doyen of Kenya's civil rights activism Raila Amollo Odinga, in a matter of two months has overturned what his rivals did in several years.
