Kivutha Kibwana Shelves Presidential Ambition Says Majority of Governors Behind Raila Odinga

Kivutha Kibwana, the governor of Makueni, has abandoned his presidential ambitions. According to Kibwana, he chose to do so in favour of Raila Odinga.

Kivutha added that after consulting his county people of makueni on Thursday, they gave him the go-ahead to support the Azimio la Umoja Movement through his Muungano Party. His supporters informed the Makueni governor that he still has time on his side and that he can run for president again in the future.

During a news conference, Kivutha, who was joined by several governors, claimed that after extensive discussions with the county leaders, they had decided to support Raila in the Forthcoming presidential election.

The governors are backing Raila Odinga because, according to Kibwana, Raila has fought for the country and is the father of devolution.

"Raila will entrench devolution. Raila is looking for self-actualization and not to settle political scores, added Kibwana.

Accompanying Kibwana were governors Lee Kinyanjui, Joseph Ole Lenku, James Nyoro, Cornel Rasanga, among others.
