Kanini Kega Speaks About Mt Kenya's Low Voter Turnout

After voting in Kieni Constituency, Kieni Member of Parliament, Hon. Kanini Kega, commented on the ongoing voting in the Mt. Kenya region and compared it to previous elections.

Kanini Kega said that, from what he could see, the current turnout in the Mt. Kenya region is low compared to the general elections in 2017. He said that about 90% of the people in Central Kenya voted in the general elections of 2017 and 2013.

He did say, though, that about 60% of eligible voters will vote in this election. He believes that the low turnout will have an impact on the presidential election.Other jobs, such as being a member of parliament, he claims, will be unaffected.Kanini, on the other hand, has asked the people to come out and use their democratic rights.

They have all voted for William Ruto, the candidate for the United Democratic Alliance, President Uhuru Kenyatta, and Raila Odinga, the leader of the Orange Democratic Party, have all voted. On the other hand, Roots Presidential Candidate George Wajackoyah was unable to vote because the KIEMS kit didn't work. (From 7:29:00 to 7:32:00 Hrs in this clip, you can watch Kanini's interview.)
