Uhuru To Chair Nairobi meeting

The conflict between the Congolese government and the M23 rebels has continued to intensify even as regional organizations work out to end the conflict. Recently the rebels announced that they would cease fire to allow for peaceful negotiations but they have not vacated from some regions according to the Luanda agreement which they had accepted to abide by.

They then asked to meet with former president Uhuru Kenyatta who was among the top meditators of the agreement last month. After being called by the rebels for some negotiations Uhuru has organized a meeting in Nairobi where he will chair meeting between the Congolese government and the M23 rebels. The EAC has already confirmed the meeting and it has been scheduled to start tomorrow.

All the involved parties in the conflict are required to attend including the representatives of the M23 rebels. Uhuru is the peace envoy for Kenya to the Democratic Republic of Congo and many people believe in him. His recent success in restoring peace in Ethiopia has made him earn trust from different countries in Africa as well as from Europe.
