With five years to the next general elections in 2027, Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has already positioned himself to take over the mantle from his Azimio la Umoja boss Raila Odinga.
Speaking on Sunday, Kalonzo sent out a strong message to Raila, tactically locking him out of the race.
Kalonzo said he is the only competitor who will face off with President Ruto in 2027. He went ahead to claim that even Ruto knows that and has already aknowleged his candidature. Kalonzo said he has started preparing himself for a duelling political battle.

This means that Kalonzo has locked Raila out of the race and hoping to inherit Raila's political strongholds ahead of 2027.
Kalonzo was quoted in July saying he will begin early campaigns after August just the same way Ruto did after 2027.
This came after calls by Rigathi Gachagua and William Ruto to have Kalonzo join Kenya Kwanza failed.
It was reported that Kalonzo was keen on not having himself swallowed by Kenya Kwanza ahead of 2027
