As the primary presidential candidates, Raila Odinga and Deputy President William Ruto, seek the region's divided support, the Lower Eastern region has been on their radar.
Raila Odinga, the leader of the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance, named his campaign team yesterday, before of the official campaign period, to lead his bid to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in the August 9th general elections.
Raila chose Prof. Kivutha Kibwana, the governor of Makueni County, to lead the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance campaign team in the lower Eastern area.
Kibwana has broken his silence following the meeting, declaring that he has rolled up his sleeves to ensure that the Azimio vote basket is filled for a better Kenya.
H.E. Raila Odinga has requested me to oversee the Lower Eastern campaign team for #AzimioLaUmoja. I've rolled up my sleeves to finish this project. For a better Kenya, we must fill the Azimio vote basket. Tuesday at Ikalyoni, Kaiti Constituency," remarked Governor Kivutha Kibwana.
