Kenya Electricity Generating Company, KenGen has won yet another massive contract worth just over 700 million Kenya Shillings to drill a new geothermal energy well in Djibouti. This new record contract is the third similar victory by Kenya's traditional energy generator, in Africa. The previous two being in Ethiopia and Rwanda. The company has also formed a partnership with the three countries, that is Rwanda, Ethiopia and now Djibouti to enhance quality power supply to millions of Sub-Saharan African residents, who have not been able to access the same in yearsPhoto Courtesy.
This is a move that will generally boost the Kenyan company in efforts to regain domination in power supply in Kenya, which is currently under the monopoly of Kenya Power and Lighting Company. KenGen had earlier on made clear her intentions to supply power directly to consumers, and especially major consumers. KenGen has also been working on diversifying power generation sources.

Earlier on, the company has also announced profit increase for 2020 with just over 8% paying the government a dividend of 10 million.
