With politics still raging in Kenya with about 16 months before next year's general elections, the Building Bridges Initiative is raising political temperatures in the country.
A number of politicians have expressed their interest in running for the presidency to succeed President Kenyatta who is set to retire August 2022. One of them is Deputy President Dr William Samoei Ruto who seems to be gaining momentum every day in his race to state house.
However, his trip to statehouse next year has been marked by a number of challenges, including their deteriorating relationship with President Kenyatta, which is worsening every day since he took office for a second term.
Kirinyaga County Women's Representative Purity Wangui Ngirici posted on her Twitter page her views on the relationship between President Kenyatta and his Deputy Ruto as well as the relationship between Deputy President and ODM party leader Raila Odinga. Wangui Ngirici is one of the staunch supporters of the Deputy President, especially from Mount Kenya.

Ngirici said the Deputy President was a good man when he supported President Kenyatta in 2002 when he contested Mwai Kibaki who won the elections that year.
Ngirici also said the Deputy President was a good man when he supported Raila Odinga in 2007 in a controversial election that led to formation of the famous "nusu mkate" coalition government between Kibaka and Raila.

Ngirici also said when the Deputy President backed President Kenyatta in 2013 and 2017 elections President Kenyatta did not say Ruto was such a bad person like what he is telling the public every day. Wangui Ngirici says the only mistake made by the Deputy President is to announce his candidacy for the presidency next year which seems not to be going on well with Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga who have joined forces to scuttle off Ruto's dreams of becoming the fifth President of Kenya.
