The Kikuyu member of Parliament did not pull out the most friendly reactions from Kenyans after he appeared to mock Uhuru's Azimio resignation plan. According to the news, Uhuru's resignation as Azimio leader was due to the pension plan he might miss if he didn't do that. According to Ichungwa, that shouldn't be true as former president Uhuru kenyatta has alot of money that does not allow him to depend on the pension for his own financial security. Ichungwa claimed that Uhuru resigning as Azimio leader is good news but aiming at the pension plan isn't good for the person of his status.
Despite his statement which appeared to be supporting the former president as well as mocking him, Kenyans took issues with the leader of majority. A number of Kenyans who responded to Kimani Ichungwa claimed that he should not be speaking on behalf of the former president. Kenyans urged him to direct his political guns elsewhere.
