Deputy County commissioner Kilonzo Urge Boda Boda Riders In Kisii To Be Ambassador of Change

Boda boda riders have been urged to change the notion that they are troops ready for hire in causing trouble.

This has been witnessed in many events where the boda boda riders are being taken for granted and hired to boo and cause chaos.

The boda boda riders last week they held their election and voted new leaders.

Speaking during the thanks giving ceremony at Masongo public grounds during the thanks giving prayers Kisii central deputy county commissioner Mr Wilberforce Kilonzo said that the notion has turnished the name of the boda boda riders.

"We have witnessed in many occasions where some politicians hire them to echo and cause chaos during political gatherings and demonstration ,"Mr Kilonzo said.

He urged the boda boda riders to distance themselves from such vices and be ambassadors of change in the community .

" If someone asks you or hire you to participate in procession of any kind , always ask them to show you police permit,"he said.

The deputy county commissioner appealed to the officials to spend more time listening to the riders viewers , seeking guidance from government before taking any steps.

"In doing that we will guard against leadership division that have crippled many organizations in the country,"he said.

Mr Kilonzo cited that he will ensure that they dismantle all criminal cartels that may have infiltrated in various economic sectors and hijacked leadership.

He vowed to put up a boda boda communication box where the riders will drop any information at their convenience.

His sentiments were echoed by Kitutu Central Elizabeth Atemi said that it's high time to bring restoration in boda boda sector.

Ms Atemi said that boda boda sector was majorly introduced to assist as a source of living not a tool of crime.

Danfas Omwando the new elected chairman said that he is going to work hand in hand with the security officers to bring sanity in the boda boda industry.

The association boda boda riders has been riddled with multiple conflicts over the years largely emanating from criminal cartels and some politicians with vested intents.

In Kisii town it has over 6000 boda boda riders .
