The choice of NARC Kenya party leader Martha Wangari Karua as the running mate to Raila Amolo Odinga precipitated the bolting out of Wiper Party Leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka from the giant Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition party.
Kalonzo and his Wiper brigade had maintained that they would settle only on the running mate slot without which they were to coin a new political path. Indeed, Kalonzo and his brigade lived to their promise and bolted out of Azimio with the former Vice President renewing his quest to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Despite leaving Raila at the eleventh hour,Kalonzo was allocated the Chief Minister slot should Azimio carry the day come August ninth.
Despite being unmoved in his desire to go all the way to the ballot, there have been speculations of late that the Wiper boss may reconsider his current political stand and rejoin Azimio. However,Kalonzo has not come open on this.
In a fresh twist of events, Sirisia MP John Waluke ha now advised Raila to appoint Kitui governor Charity Kaluki Ngilu as Chief Minster to lead Ukambani in Azimio.
The Legislature questioned Kalonzo's loyalty terming it a threat to Azimio unity.
He was speaking during an interview with TV47. Whether Raila would succumb to this latest advise from Waluke is something that is left for another day.
