The primary purpose of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers who rushed to Bomas of Kenya during the transmission of the presidential election results has been revealed. This revelation comes barely four months after the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chairman Mr. Wafula Chebukati declared the final presidential results with William Ruto being announced as the winner.
According to reports by Star Newspaper, today's edition, the DCI officers wanted to kidnap the chair of the electoral body. The Newspaper which is popular across Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, South Africa, Ghana, Nigeria, and other African countries, has now claimed that minutes before the outcomes of August 9, 2022, presidential polls were announced, DCI security forces who were planning to kidnap Chebukati were being intimidated and subsequently suppressed by Deputy President William Ruto's bodyguards.

William Ruto had sent his guards which comprised highly trained police officers to the Bomas of Kenya to stop DCI from interfering with the plans he and Wafula Chebukati had in altering the results and declaring him the winner of the elections. This event occurred after the then Deputy President received news about what was happening and discovered that DCI security forces were trying to kidnap the chair due to his interference with the actual election results in favor of Ruto.
The local magazine reported that William Ruto's bodyguards challenged their DCI colleagues to try what they were preparing to do, insisting that they would not let such a situation occur. Star Newspaper reported that it was claimed that the DCI forces had submitted and everyone watched as Chebukati announced the presidential results.
"As the stalemate continued, some of William Ruto's security team, who was the Deputy President at the time, arrived at Bomas of Kenya to monitor what was happening. Others seized control of the room where Chebukati was hiding and dared the DCI officials to enter the office and carry out their objective.
